When life has us riding high and feeling good, God doesn't love us anymore. When we are low and barely hanging on, He doesn't love us any less.
In both circumstances, the high and the low, we can walk in obedience. Our emotions, which are temporary and not necessarily right, cannot be what leads our obedience to Christ. We must choose obedience when we understand it and when we don't.
Our feelings come and go, our relationship with the Lord can be consistent through it all.
The world will tell us, more often than not, to "follow our hearts", but the Bible tells us that, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?". Emotions and feelings, as real as they are, cannot be relied upon. God's Word and His instruction can be fully relied upon in all situations. We have only to walk in obedience, usually denying self (or heart).
