It's Not Goodbye, It's See Ya Later!

If you're a subscriber, you already know that I'm taking an intentional two month hiatus from blogging during November and December. With McBaby's impending due date on the not so distant horizon now, it was the obvious choice to make. We are going to be up to our eyeballs in diapers, swaddle blankets, bibs, and milk, so thinking about blog things was going to prove to be too much! We are SO excited to meet our little fella and spend lots of quality time bonding as a family of three!

I wanted to leave you with a few things to tide you over. These are just some random fun things that I think will benefit your life over the next few months. Click on the links (bold words in boxes below) to check them out for yourselves! Let me know if you make use of them and subscribe at the bottom of the page for news of McBaby's birth when it happens!

Of course, I will miss this sweet community during the next two months, but I will be back with lots of new things in 2018 (which yes, a whole new year is just two months away).

What I'm Reading:

Prayer: Finding the Heart's True Home by Richard Foster Reading this for Bible study right now and have loved each chapter more than the one before it. It's not a "step by step" book or a quick tutorial on how to pray "correctly", but oh so much more. My soul is soaking up every word.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott I admittedly listen to this book on Audible 2 or 3 times a year, but it's best around this time of year. Beautiful story.

Beautiful Outlaw: Experiencing the Playful, Disruptive, Extravagant Personality of Jesus by John Eldredge Re-reading this one, or listening to it, because it helps me think of Christ in outside the box ways that make Him more real to me.

What I'm Listening to:

Mandolin Orange AWESOME for Fall. Bluegrass has my heart

Kristene Dimarco of Bethel Music fame, this is her solo album

The Show Ponies "Indie-Grass" band based out of LA who I have grown to love!

And this Bluegrass playlist (among others). I can't get enough in the Fall!

A Little Gift for You:

Tomorrow is November! Hooray! I have a feeling it's going to be the best month of our lives! Here is a little gift to celebrate! I found this super cute iPhone background on Pinterest. It's from French travel blogger Lou Seni and you can download it as a background for your phone or calendar for your desktop. Isn't it the perfect dose of Autumn Whimsy? Downloads available here.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Confession: I have already been thinking about Christmas!! My favorite way to prepare for the coming of the Christ Child is Jim Branch's Advent devotional. It's structured like The Blue Book, his original deviotional, but is especially for the Christmas season. If you'd like for this Christmas to be a little bit different, a little slower, more intentional maybe, then this is for you! I can't recommend it enough.

Watch and Wait: A Guide for Advent and Christmas by Jim Branch

Some of you may remember this post, where I shared how I intentionally sought a word to guide me through 2017. If this is something that interests you, follow the link below find the tool I used to help me flesh out my word. In the end, it's absolutely God that opens hearts and ears to hear what He has for them, but there is something beautiful about seeking it intentionally with him. If nothing else, it is something calming and sweet to do in those quiet days between Christmas and New Years.
