Throwback Thursday: Happy Birthday Dad!
This guy turns 58 on Saturday!
Dad has always told us that October 15th is the most beautiful day of the year.
I think in my whole life there has only been one October 15th for which that isn't true.
So this weekend, y'all can look forward to clear skies and comfortable temps!
If you think about it, you can thank my dad for the perfect weather!
When he turned 50, dad let all his candles burn all the way down to the cake before blowing them out.
My brother and I exchanged weird glances across the table, thinking "What is he up to now?"
And he was up to something.
He told us that 50 would be the last year we celebrated his birthday or gave him any kind of gifts.
Then he told us that the adults we had grown up to be was the only gift he needed and if we would continue to be the people Christ wanted us to be, that was good enough celebration of life for him.
I do find a way to celebrate him every year.
Sending a card or bringing him a bag of pistachios a week before or after his birthday, are my usual sneaky tactics.
Happy Birthday Dad!
